All White Jeremy Brockie (left), pictured playing in South Africa for Super Sport United, has signed for an Australian football club.
Former All Whites forward Jeremy Brockie has completed his five-year tenure in South Africa and has signed for a second-division Australian club.
The 33-year-old joined the Victorian Premier League club Bentleigh Greens after trying out with the Newcastle Jets, one of his former A-League clubs.
Brockie left the Mamelodi Sundowns mid-year and a possible return to South Africa was ruined when his old club, SuperSport United, cooled off his initial interest in bringing him back to Pretoria.
Former Wellington favorite Phoenix won five trophies in five years in South Africa, but struggled to earn playing time at the Sundowns after his 2018 SuperSport transfer, where he scored 54 goals and helped the club win three titles.
Jeremy Brockie scored his first competitive goal for the Mamelodi Sundowns in a 3-1 win over the Free State Stars in 2018.

Mamelodi loaned him out to Premier Soccer League rivals Maritzburg United in the 2019-20 season, but was limited to just one goal in 12 appearances.
Brockie and his wife Jessica relocated their family to Townsville in North Queensland after leaving South Africa.
He was hoping for another A-League contract, but Bentleigh Greens, an ambitious club based in Cheltenham, a southeastern suburb of Melbourne, announced Brockie’s signing on Christmas Day.
“Brockie comes to Bentleigh after a very successful season in South Africa with SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Maritzburg United,” the club said. Brockie has also represented Wellington Phoenix, Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets and North Queensland Fury in the A-League.
“We hope to see Jeremy at Kingston Heath in 2021.”
Brockie, who grew up in Nelson, has scored a goal in 50 appearances with the All Whites since he made his international debut in 2006.
He got his last international match against Canada in March 2018.
His only goal for the All Whites came against Uzbekistan in 2014.
Brockie played for New Zealand in the 2008 Olympics, scored a spectacular goal against host nation China, and was part of the All Whites squad in the 2010 World Cup final in South Africa, coming off the bench during the last 11 minutes of the 0-0 draw of the group match with Paraguay.
After making his mark in the A-League with the Newcastle Jets, Brockie scored 23 goals in 58 games for the Phoenix between 2012 and 2015.
He had a brief loan stint in Major League Soccer with Toronto FC, then managed by his former All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen, before moving to South Africa for SuperSport United in 2015.
Brockie helped the Pretoria club win two Nedbank Cup titles (South Africa’s national knockout competition) and an MTN8 crown in a competition involving the top eight clubs in the country. He was part of two Premier Soccer League title-winning teams at Mamelodi Sundowns, but became a fringe player there.
