There were 16 new cases of Covid-19 during the Christmas period, including a member of the air flight support crew.
The Health Ministry said there were also 14 cases in managed isolation and one historical community case confirmed since May.

The person who arrived from France was a “member of the air flight support crew” who arrived on December 22, the ministry said.
A close contact of that person has returned a negative Covid-19 test and has entered self-isolation.
A Christchurch resident who tested weak positive in May has now been confirmed and recorded as a community landmark case.
“At the time, the person was a close contact of a family member who had recently returned from abroad and was in self-isolation at his home, as managed isolation facilities had not yet been established,” the statement from the Ministry of Justice said. Health.
Seven new cases were announced on Wednesday, the latest Covid-19 update before Christmas Day.
Those cases were detected in isolation facilities run in Christchurch and Auckland, of people who returned to New Zealand from the United States and South Africa and the Czech Republic via the United Arab Emirates.
One of the cases was classified as historical and was not included in the total number of active cases, which stands at 49.
Quarantined christmas
Rather than wallow about having to spend Christmas Day trapped in a hotel room, many returning Kiwis chose to see the bright side.
John and Paola Trujillo-Bell, and children Emilio, 13, and Gabriella, 10, recently returned to New Zealand from a 15-month gap year at Columbia, but they are not far behind when it comes to spreading some joy.
Like many other guests at Christchurch’s Chateau on the Park, the Trujillo-Bells draped their hotel windows in Christmas decorations and dressed their room in sparkly decorations. Its flashing lights could illuminate a small airport runway.
“We will never forget this Christmas. It’s a unique situation and you have to make the most of it, ”said Paola.
“We need to see the bright side. No matter how difficult it gets, you always have to look for something good in a difficult situation. The worst feeling is feeling sad and miserable at this time of year. You have to keep your spirits up. “
For Stacey Knott, a multimedia journalist returning to Wellington from Ghana in West Africa, staying at Auckland’s Grand Millennium Hotel to isolate herself after a busy schedule covering Ghana’s presidential elections was a great excuse to relax.
“I’m isolating myself, so just like the days leading up to the 25th, Christmas Day will be another day of inactivity.
“I’ve seen on Facebook that others, especially those with children, have decorated their hotel rooms for Christmas, which is sweet, but I’m overlooking this.”
