Krisnan Inu has re-signed with the Salford Red Devils after joining the Super League Dream Team.

Krisnan Inu, the veteran former Warriors and Kiwis star, will remain with the Salford Red Devils for the upcoming Super League season.

The 33-year-old defender has signed a one-year contract with Salford, where he was player of the year in 2020 and was included in the Superliga Dream Team.

Inu, who had six tryouts for the Kiwis during his NRL career, helped Salford reach the Super League and Challenge Cup finals in his first two years at the Greater Manchester club.

The Red Devils announced Inu’s renewal on Christmas Day, headlining a story on the club’s website with: “Happy Krismas: Krisnan Inu stays in Salford.”

Inu said he was “really pleased to have extended my stay at Salford.

“I love playing here and I think that helped me regain my best level last season.

“It’s great to be with the guys and it’s been two finals in two years for us since I arrived, so we all want to go a step further now.

“Everyone is excited for our first home game since March and I have definitely missed that atmosphere.”

Inu was Salford’s top try and points scorer in 2020. He scored 10 tries in 10 Super League games and kicked 32 goals, scoring 104 points.

He played a major role in Salford reaching his first Challenge Cup final in 51 years, kicking two goals in a one-point loss to the Leeds Rhinos at Wembley.

Inu also took home the Salford Player of the Year award, voted on by members of the Red Devils Supporters Trust.

Kiwi’s capture is seen as a significant boost for Salford, who has lost head coach Ian Watson, an avowed admirer of Inu, to the Huddersfield Giants.

Salford’s new head coach, former St Helens assistant Richard Marshall, said Inu’s skill and experience would be vital in 2021.

“Krisnan showed last season how competitive he still is at the elite level,” Marshall said.

“His unmatched composure, power and skills make him a great part of the team and talking to the other players, they will be very happy to have him back on board.

“Along with some recent additions, this makes our options on the outer backs really solid. I hope to see them compete in the preseason. “

Inu plays alongside former Warriors and current Tonga test medium Tui Lolohea in Salford and the Red Devils are rumored to be eager to sign former Kiwis forwards Elijah Taylor and Danny Levi.
