Eight teams of firefighters fought a fire on Donald St in Karori, which has now been extinguished.
A fire at the former site of Wellington Teacher’s College in Karori has now been extinguished.
Fire and Emergency Shift Chief Jill Webley said eight crews fought the blaze, which started around 3.15pm and was “well involved” upon arrival.
There are no reports of injuries or of anyone in the Donald Street building, which was previously cordoned off.
Webley said crews are now buffering hot spots and cleaning up. A fire investigator heads to the scene to begin an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Smoke could be seen throughout the suburb and a resident two blocks away told him Stuff I could see flames.
A police spokeswoman said they were also alerted to the fire and were at the scene, but left.
The former Wellington Teachers’ Training College campus has previously been a point of contention, as the retiree village operator Ryman Healthcare bought the Victoria University campus in late 2017, after a long struggle from the Ministry. of Education and Wellington City Council to keep it in public hands.
