A Waikato man was attacked in a road rage incident last week. He didn’t want to be named, but he was comfortable with Stuff using the image of his injuries.
An 81-year-old man was left with a black eye, a bleeding nose and cut gums after he was struck through his car window in a raging incident north of Wellington.
The Waikato man, who wished not to be identified out of fear, said he is still “purple and blue” a week after the incident, which he described as “cruel.”
He had been visiting Ōtaki with his partner and was searching for his motel when a man, believed to be in his 20s, took offense at driving near the intersection of Robert McKeen Street and Tasman Road.
“I was parked on the side of the road and he came in behind me. He said he was doing about 10km / h while looking for the motel.

“He honked, so I honked again, and then he came up to me, blocked the way, and started abusing me. I told him without certain terms to ‘go back to your car, I don’t want to talk to you, go’ … he started to walk away and then he came back and hit me out the window, “he said. .
After the attack, the man said he was bleeding from his nose and mouth for about two hours, where his false teeth had cut into his gums.
“He was covered in blood from head to toe,” he said.
Close witnesses supported him and he received medical treatment.
A week later, he could barely open his jaw and said he was looking forward to Christmas pudding.
“It’s absolutely cruel, especially for someone 81 damn years old … There are nice people, but also terrible … all I want to do is prevent it from happening to anyone else,” he said.
A police spokeswoman said the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
