Van hits a pedestrian in Avondale and crashes into a house

A pedestrian is in serious condition after being hit by a van that later crashed into a home.

The accident took place shortly after 9:30 a.m. M. On Great North Rd, Avondale.

The van collided with a parked car before colliding with a pedestrian. Footage taken at the scene shows the truck crashing into a wooden fence and crashing into the corner of a house.

A police spokesman said the pedestrian had been taken to hospital in serious condition.

Cords were placed on Great North Rd near Beatrix St. Motorists were told to expect delays in the area.

The Serious Accident Unit of the Police had been notified and was heading to the place.
