More than 100 motorcycles and 150 other vehicles participated in the November 7 procession, prompting dozens of complaints of reckless and dangerous driving.

Participants were reportedly driving on the side of the road, blocking intersections, dangerously passing other cars, and skidding close to pedestrians.

Some passengers were reported to be sitting outside car windows.

Police said they continued to identify the people involved, including reviewing images of the procession.

Nine other cars identified as involved in serious driving offenses were being searched.

Eight people appear in court in connection with driving offenses.

Waitematā East Task Force Inspector Commander Simon Walker said police will continue to investigate, prosecute the drivers involved and find and impound the remaining vehicles.

“Many of the drivers in this procession presented a very real risk not only to their own safety and their passengers, but also to other road users and our community at large.

“This type of behavior on our roads will not be tolerated by the police and our community.”
