Three men have been arrested and charged with allegedly shooting a lone policewoman in Northland in October.

All three men are members of the Rebeldes gang.

The officer was shot in the early hours of the morning of October 27 near Puketona Junction after a car pulled up in front of a police vehicle, forcing a stop.

Two men with firearms reportedly got out of their car and one fired into the windshield of the police car. The offer was withdrawn unscathed and asked for a backup.

Earlier in the evening, the men allegedly abducted a man at gunpoint, forced him into the trunk of his own car, and shot him as he escaped.

The three accused men were detained by police at separate locations in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato.

A police officer was injured despite being shot during an incident this morning in Northland.


A 44-year-old man is charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery, arson, use of a firearm against a police officer and involvement in an organized crime group and is scheduled to appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow.

A 26-year-old man is charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery, arson, use of a firearm against a police officer and participation in an organized criminal group. He is due tomorrow in Tokoroa District Court.

A 38-year-old man appeared in Manukau District Court today on non-drug and firearms charges and will appear in court on the same charges as the other two in the near future.
