Media around the world have congratulated the exciting race that took place on the second day of the America’s Cup World Series regatta in Auckland.

The New Zealand team was forced to work hard fighting mistakes and improving the UK Ineos team, while American Magic and Luna Rossa were the stewards of the most exciting races in Auckland waters.

After the second day, it’s American Magic on top with three wins out of four, tied with Team New Zealand but ahead in the head-to-head tiebreaker. Luna Rossa is in third place with a win, while Ineos Team UK has not won.

Despite two victories on the second day of racing, the New Zealand team still made mistakes on the water, however Yachtracing Life believes that even if mistakes are made, Te Rehutai is always capable of bouncing back.

“New Zealanders clearly have the raw ship speed and talent to get out of whatever difficult situation they find themselves in. We should have no doubt that the few wrinkles we saw today will be quickly fixed,” wrote Justin Chisholm.

Whereas Stefano Vegliani, writing for OA Sport, pointed to the fact that the New Zealand team were outscored by the UK team in their two starts.

“The two losses are nothing new, but Ben Ainslie’s good starts are. In the second of the two races they put the Kiwis in trouble leaving them sitting from the foils starting almost 400 meters ahead.”

Italian media Non Solo Nautica said the second day was very promising for Luna Rossa.

“The one-to-one result in the double challenge with American Magic (who had also beaten New Zealand on the first day) gives Italian fans hope.

“Not only in the first race won against the Americans, but also in the second challenge lost against American Magic, Luna Rossa showed excellent determination and above all complete control over her AC75, with spectacular maneuvers and balance results until the very last. curve”.

Vela Veneta of Italy said the races between the American and Italian rivals were won by tactics rather than mistakes.

“Contrary to what has been seen so far, in fact … far too often due to failures not attributable to individual teams (see foil problem all teams encountered on day one).”

The Associated Press said the races between American Magic and Luna Rossa, who split their two meetings, generated the most aggression, citing the four penalties between the two teams.

The agency noted that the two races were “peppered” with dramatic incidents.

“In the first race, Luna Rossa incurred a penalty for entering the start area early and was forced to allow American Magic at least a two-boat lead off the line.

“The American crew members had their hearts in their mouths when they went off course in the first half, taking too long to lift the arm off the windward blade and causing the Patriot yacht to capsize dangerously.”

Another Italian website, Faravela, blamed a lack of technical competence for the number of penalties that were being served in the direction of the Luna Rossa team.

“The virtual graphics and on-board systems need to be reviewed, leading to two penalties for the early departure of the Luna Rossa, unusual errors for this level,” wrote Michele Tognozzi.

Salvatore Serio of Italian news site OA Sport praised the weather as much as the teams, saying it helped provide entertainment.

“The weather conditions in New Zealand’s Gulf of Hauraki are practically perfect with a 10/12 knot wind that made all four races of the day exciting and very balanced.”

Reaction from social media

Meanwhile, on social media, the new edition of boats and regattas revealed this week has received near-universal praise, with the show attracting several new fans.

“I’m not a big fan of sailing normally, but this #AmericasCup competition in Auckland’s Waitemata Harbor is pure adrenaline and drag racing. These boats are technologically next-level equipment,” Arshad Daud wrote on Twitter.

Existing boating fans have been equally frank about the quality of the races so far and the sheer entertainment they provide for spectators.
