On Friday afternoon, November 27, her close friend, a real estate agent from East Auckland, saw her alive for the last time before leaving her home in Suzetta Pl at around 4.30pm.
Later that night, an unknown killer or killers arrived at the $ 2 million house at the end of the short cul-de-sac.
Zhong was stabbed to death with a sharp knife in a corner of her third floor room.
A person who later viewed his body said he sustained serious injuries to his face and neck.

Police are conducting a forensic examination of Elizabeth Zhong’s Sunnyhills home.
They couldn’t recognize his face and only knew they were looking at Zhong when they saw his hands, the person who requested anonymity said.
It was not until a week after his death that the police announced that they had formally identified his body.
After she was killed, the assailant (s) lowered her body and hid it in the trunk of her Range Rover.
They drove the vehicle for two minutes around the corner and abandoned it around the corner, where it was found shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Police did not search his boot and find his body until that night, after issuing a missing persons appeal.
People close to Zhong and those involved in her business affairs believe that she was killed by someone she knew.
They cite the fact that there were no obvious signs of forced entry into the home – the marks on the front door were there before her murder. Stuff has confirmed, along with the fact that she was murdered in her room upstairs, rather than downstairs after opening the door.

In a statement provided Thursday, Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers of the Manukau Counties Criminal Investigation Branch did not confirm the nature of Zhong’s injuries except to say that he was the target of a violent attack.
Nor was he talking about suspects.
“For reasons of privacy and operational security, we will not comment on any person of interest as part of Operation Attina,” he said.
“The police deal with the facts as part of our investigation and speculation is useless.
“While we cannot comment on the specifics of our inquiries, I can say that our investigation continues to advance every day.”
