Homicide in Hamilton: police reveal the name of the woman killed in her home

Police released the name of a young mother who was murdered in her Hamilton home this week.

Ngawai Kararaina Maria Himiona, 30, was allegedly killed by a 34-year-old man at an address in Kentucky Crescent, Hamilton, on Wednesday.

Just after 11 p.m., in the suburb of Nawton, neighbors reported hearing screams, bangs, and bangs coming from a property near the top of the street.

A woman, a neighbor, told the Herald that she heard another woman scream and then a new series of screams: the voice of a small child.

“I ran and heard her yelling, ‘Help, help! My mom is dead.’

A man was then seen leaving the house, getting into a vehicle and driving away.

Police launched a homicide investigation after his death and investigations are continuing.

A GoFundMe page has been created to raise money for funeral expenses.

“God has won an angel when our sister Ngawai spreads her wings to take care of us all, she leaves behind a beautiful family of three boys and a girl, as everyone can imagine, our family is completely shocked and devastated by this tragic event.”, the page said.
