Hutt Valley District Court, where a 33-year-old man appeared in connection with a firearms charge Wednesday
A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon after police searched an address in Lower Hutt.
Police found a firearm on property in Cambridge Terrace after executing a warrant around 5.45am Wednesday.
The order was issued in connection with ongoing organized crime activity in the area.
The man appeared in Hutt Valley District Court Wednesday morning.

Wellington Detective Sgt. Shaun Richardson said police were cracking down on gang members who possessed firearms.
“We will be relentless in meeting our goal of removing illegal and prohibited firearms from the hands of criminals.
“We appreciate the continued support of the public and urge anyone with information about any suspicious activity to contact local law enforcement.”
