An Auckland businesswoman found dead in the trunk of her car was successfully bankrupted by creditors.
Elizabeth Zhong, also known as Ying Zhong, filed for bankruptcy just over a fortnight after police officers discovered her body while initially working on the missing person case.
Two creditors, Fang Sun and residential property investment company General Growth Group Ltd, filed for bankruptcy against the homicide victim, according to Stuff.
General Growth Group is reported to have been the main creditor to initiate proceedings for a debt of $ 2 million. Fang Sun was a partisan creditor.
The case was heard in the High Court in Auckland yesterday.
The attorney appearing for General Group Growth, Robert Hucker, acknowledged the “rather tragic circumstances” but said he had been ordered to proceed, according to the publication.
The judge ruled bankruptcy and ordered a payment of approximately $ 3,300 costs and $ 1,000 disbursements.
Zhong’s official bankruptcy comes just over two weeks after she is believed to have been murdered at her Sunnyhills home, near Pakuranga, in eastern Auckland.
The 55-year-old woman, who was involved in various business ventures, is said to have had some financial difficulties with her businesses in the 18 months prior to her death.
Devastated family
She was last seen alive around 4.30pm on Friday, November 27, at her $ 2 million home on Suzetta Place.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of her death and have not yet made any arrests in connection with her.
It was later revealed that the police had found her vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, around the corner from her home.
But no one opened the trunk until several hours later, revealing the body inside, under the household items.
Later, the police revealed that the victim had died before she was placed in the trunk.
Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any sightings of the victim’s black Land Rover vehicle between the time she was last seen alive and the morning of November 28.
“The police have received a large volume of information from associates, the business community and the wider community as part of our investigation to date,” said Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers of the Los Angeles Police Department just over a week ago. Manukau counties.
“Elizabeth’s family is understandably devastated by what has happened and they have requested privacy. We are in regular contact with her family.”
