The Director General of Health, Dr. Ashley Bloomfield, and the Minister of Covid-19, Chris Hipkins.
Tourists in New Zealand are asked to pack a “Covid kit” and stay in their camps if Covid-19 emerges during the summer holidays.
The Government has drawn up a Covid-19 resurgence plan aimed at giving the country an unrestricted holiday, as the British organize “Christmas Bubbles”, the Netherlands and Germany go into lockdowns and the death toll from pandemic states United outshines 300,000 people.
The summer resurgence plan was released by Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins on Tuesday.
Hipkins said the government had “extensive contingency plans” for a possible resurgence of the virus, as many New Zealanders travel for vacation or seasonal work.

The government’s Covid-19 contact tracing app will soon feature Bluetooth technology. It means that the application will send users an alert if they have been around another user who tests positive for the virus.
Finance Minister Grant Robertson has also announced that a “Resurgence Support Payment” scheme has been created in the event that Covid-19 Alert Level 2 is changed for a week or more, which would help to hospitality and event companies survive such a disruption.
The resurgence plan largely resembles the existing response, with specific summer scenarios laid out. A positive Covid-19 case would first be treated like any other – the CEO of Health or Hipkins would provide an update and testing and contact tracing would begin.
If the outbreak is limited to a border worker and their contacts, as has been the case in recent outbreaks, then the country would remain at alert level 1 for Covid-19.
If a person in a camp tests positive for Covid-19 in a camp, local testing and tracking would be intensified and specific restrictions could be implemented.
A nationwide alert level change, which would increase restrictions across the country, can occur if there is an outbreak that cannot be connected to a border facility discovered at a music festival, and attendees quickly travel home afterward. .
Tourists may be required to return home if there is a change in alert level and events are canceled.
“At worst, if it becomes clear that there is a high risk of widespread transmission, you will have to stay where you are and in your bubble until you receive official advice. We don’t want people to rush home and possibly take the virus away, ”Hipkins said.
“It is important to remember that this is the worst case. After a long and hard year, we all deserve to enjoy our summer. “
A “Covid kit,” including soap, disinfectant and masks, should be carried while traveling, the plan says.
“If we are going to take a break, we should think about what would happen if we were to stay at our vacation spot while we wait for official advice. That could mean a home or pet backup plan if we can’t get home right away, ”Hipkins said.
New Zealand has no cases of Covid-19 within the community currently, and 56 cases within quarantine facilities at the border.
