Wellington Firebirds all-rounder Rachin Ravindra spun New Zealand A for a 103-race win over West Indies A at Saxton Oval in Nelson on Monday.

The left arm claimed 6-89, the first five-wicket bag of his fledgling first-class career, as tourists were fired for 256 while chasing 358 to win.

Ravindra’s loot came after he made an undefeated 144, his second century in first class and his highest score in first class, in the first inning for the New Zealand Athletics.

Notably, the 21-year-old was the front-row player on day four, throwing 19.3 overs, with the legged player Ish Sodhi only throwing six and part-time Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips sending seven and three, respectively.

Central Stags locksmith Blair Tickner was 2-28 in 14 overs, while Doug Bracewell picked up just one spot, after taking six himself in the early innings of West Indies A, and so did his cousin Michael.

Nicholas Pooran made 69 for tourists, while Shayne Moseley made 54 to go with his first century of tickets before they were fired shortly after the tea break.

The end of the match marked the end of the West Indies tour, with their second test against the Black Caps concluding on Monday in Wellington.

There is one more New Zealand A match to come this summer, a first-class match against Pakistan’s Shaheens, their A-team, at Cobham Oval in Whangarei, starting Thursday.

In Saxton Oval, Nelson: New Zealand A 481-7 Dec and 174-7 Dec beat West Indies A 298 and 256 with everything (Pooran 69, Moseley 54; Ravindra 6-89) for 101 runs.
