Fire crews are fighting a fire at a “well-involved” house in Christchurch.
New Zealand Fire & Emergencies spokesman Mau Barbara said they received multiple calls about the fire on Cranford St, St Albans, around 4.45pm on Sunday.
He said the one-story house was “well wrapped” in the fire when two teams arrived from the Christchurch headquarters.
Just after 5:30 p.m., Barbara said that about eight firefighters equipped with personal breathing apparatus were fighting the fire from inside the home and were specifically targeting the ceiling void.

Residents were believed to be inside the home at the time the fire broke out, but no injuries had been reported, he said.
Other properties are not believed to have been threatened or damaged by the fire.
At this stage it was unclear how the fire started or if it was deemed suspicious, Barbara said.
