President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris have been named 2020 Time Person of the Year.
Time The magazine named the president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, and the vice president-elect, Kamala Harris, its “Person of the Year.”
Time editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal says Biden and Harris earned the honor for “changing American history, for showing that the forces of empathy outweigh the fury of division, for sharing a vision of healing in a grieving world. “
Felsenthal notes: “Every president-elect since Roosevelt has at some point during his tenure been a Person of the Year, nearly a dozen of them in a presidential election year. This is the first time we have included a vice president. ”
Time’s other Person of the Year candidates were President Donald Trump; Frontline Health Workers and Dr. Anthony Fauci; and the movement for racial justice.

Time also named Korean boy band BTS Artist of the Year and named Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James Athlete of the Year.
The magazine cited BTS’s massive global presence amid the pandemic, including leveraging its huge fanbase to support causes like Black Lives Matter.
The group has become a staple of recent award shows, making their flashy number one hit. Dynamite. The song in November earned BTS their first Grammy nomination.
“There are times when I’m still baffled by all the unimaginable things that are happening,” said BTS member Suga. Time for an interview that accompanied the ad. “But I wonder, who is going to do this if not us?”
