Judith Collins falls as Labor hold strong lead in first poll since election

The Labor Party remains in the lead with 53 percent in the latest 1 News-Colmar Brunton poll, the first since the election.

That’s 3 points ahead of his result on Election Night.

National’s support is 25 percent, roughly at the level of its election result.

Big moves are at stake as the preferred prime minister. Support for Judith Collins as the preferred prime minister has plunged 8 points to 12 percent.

Judith Collins has slipped even further behind Jacinda Ardern in the preferred prime minister stakes.

Support for Jacinda Ardern, meanwhile, remains high. She was at 58 percent, 3 percent higher than the last poll on Oct. 15.

New national MP Chris Luxon has appeared in the poll, and 2 percent of those surveyed said they would like to be prime minister.

Support among the minor parties has not changed since Election Day. Both the Greens and ACT scored 8 percent, roughly the equivalent of their result on Election Night.

The Maori Party was at 2%.

If the poll were reflected in seats in Parliament, Labor would win 67 seats compared to National’s 31.

The Greens and ACT would each have 10 seats and the Maori Party would retain the two seats it now has.

The survey was conducted between November 28 and December 2. 1004 eligible voters were surveyed. The maximum sampling error was 3.1%.
