Kyron Gosse has converted to the tiny house lifestyle: his current house (pictured) is 30 square meters, which he describes as “a mansion.”
If you’ve always liked the idea of a small house, but haven’t been sure how and where you could do it, worry no more.
Kyron Gosse, who describes himself as a futurist, entrepreneur and adventurer, is pushing ahead with plans for a small 18-site home community on Muriwai Beach on Auckland’s west coast.
But there is a catch. Your little house will probably have to be your vacation home, as camp regulations state that you cannot spend more than 50 continuous days on site.
Gosse was originally planning a much larger little village of houses, but says Covid-19 has resulted in reduced vision. But at the same time, he believes that the pandemic has shown that people can work from home and be anywhere, and he is looking for co-workers to opt for the plan.

“I think the office concept is going to disappear quickly, and even coworking spaces are going to have to transform and adapt. If you don’t constantly learn and surround yourself with people at the forefront of business, you will be left behind. “
Gosse has enjoyed a “portable lifestyle”, which saw him travel through Bali, Southeast Asia, Europe, Russia and Africa. He says that working remotely during this time cemented his passion and sparked the idea of a small town house.
“I was traveling with a group called Remote Year. The concept was a group of 60 people moving to a new city each month, working from coworking spaces. I didn’t really log into the program and went into the fifth month. I felt that instead of bringing people to each city, it would be better to have a base in each city and bring the people to you. “
After successfully testing the idea in Bali, Gosse is now promoting the plan here.
He now lives in Auckland in a small 30-square-meter house that he calls a small mansion, but he and his girlfriend Natalia plan to spend a lot of time in Muriwai once the development is complete.
“Natalia loves Muriwai. He says it is his favorite place in New Zealand and that he would love to live there one day. That is why we are building a community around us: we want to be able to live and work with inspiring entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs. Since we are all connected online anyway, you will feel like part of the community whether you are on the site or not. “
Gosse refers to the village as the “Muriwai Micro-Collective” and says it is the perfect place to regain balance between work and life.
He suggests that people can “get up and go surfing, jogging on the beach or doing yoga before doing a few hours of work and then doing an activity in the afternoon, before sharing a meal together at dinner time.”
“It also allows people to take long weekends or work summers from the beach, with great internet that allows us to work from the beach and a community of repeat customers you can expect to see.”
Gosse is selling the concept of a fun lifestyle and being part of a “tribe.” Their Go Tiny website says, “So if you’re the type of person who prefers to take life for the bitch and have a little fun, create a great life that revolves around you, not your boss, and you understand the difference between being sincere and serious, we want you to join our tribe. “

HOW DOES IT WORK
Gosse says the camp is owned by a land-owning company, and participants can buy shares within the land-owning company and receive a license to occupy a particular camp. The company constitution and shareholders agreement dictate how the property is jointly owned and the occupancy license lists the rules for using the campsite.
The camp is not particularly suitable for families, as regulations state that no more than two people can occupy one of the sites at a time, to meet wastewater requirements.
