Today there are no new cases in the community.
Today’s new case is that of a person who arrived from Jordan via Dubai on November 26. They are now in the Auckland quarantine facility.
Two previously reported cases are now considered to have recovered, bringing New Zealand’s total number of active cases to 69.
One case added to the total number of New Zealand cases today is that of a member of the 53-man Pakistan Cricket team reported by the Ministry yesterday.
Seven members of the cricket team have tested positive since arriving in New Zealand, including six members in day one testing and one in day three testing, the Health Ministry said in a statement today.
Since then, serology (blood) tests have identified two of the original six positive cases as historical cases and are therefore not infectious.
An additional 11 team members have tested positive for serology after routine blood and PCR tests for the virus were performed, indicating past historical infections.
The country’s total number of confirmed cases is now 1,696.
The NZ COVID Tracer app now has 2,387,000 registered users. Poster scans have reached 129,010,201 and users have created 5,229,595 manual journal entries.
