Smith posted his second consecutive century of the ODI series against India in Sydney on Sunday as Australia racked up a huge total again, racking up 389-4 of his 50 overs.

The master hitter took exactly 62 balls to get his tonne up, the same number of deliveries he faced Friday when he finished with 105.

Smith was fired for 104, his 11th century ODI, as Australia got into a dominant position to go up 2-0 and win the series.

His 62-ball century was Australia’s third-fastest in ODIs behind only Glenn Maxwell (51 balls) and James Faulkner (57).

Smith was relatively patient at first, scoring 21 of 21 balls before putting his foot down to reach his 38-game half-century.

Also in the races for Australia were starters David Warner (83) and captain Aaron Finch (60), who added 142 for the first wicket. Maxwell hit 63 out of 29 balls, while Marnus Labuschagne intervened with 70 out of 61 balls.

It was only the second time in ODI history that the top five hitters scored 50 in the same innings. The last time was also Australia against India in Jaipur in 2013.

Almost all Indian bowlers received punishment from Australia’s batsmen with Jasprit Bumrah filtering 79 runs from his 10 overs.
