Elizbeth Zhong was a successful businesswoman.
A homicide investigation has now been launched after the body of Auckland businesswoman Elizabeth Zhong was found.
Elizabeth (Ying) Zhong, 55, was reported missing on Saturday morning and police later confirmed that they had found a body in a nearby car.
On Sunday, Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers confirmed that police were now treating the death as a homicide.
Vickers said a post-mortem examination was conducted and the scene is being investigated.

“Today, officers have continued to make inquiries in the area where the body was located and have been speaking with friends, family and associates of the deceased,” Vickers said.
Formal identification has not yet been completed, but police believe the body is Zhong’s.
Zhong was reported missing from her $ 2 million home in Suzetta Pl, Sunnyhills, near Pakuranga, on Saturday morning.
His body was found a few streets away in the trunk of a car, Things understands.
The vehicle has been recalled for forensic testing.
Zhong was described by her ex-husband Frank Fu as a very canny businesswoman whose interests now lie in the film industry.
She is listed as the sole director and shareholder of Digipost Entertainment Ltd, a visual effects company that has been involved in films including Beyond the limit.
The company went to work on a CGI fantasy film called Archived, to be produced by the director of Shrek, Andrew Adamson.
Zhong was also the sole director and shareholder of the bankrupt Kennedy Point Group Ltd and Carrick Wines Ltd wine companies.
In February 2019, Things reported that Zhong was selling Carrick Winery in Central Otago to help finance his film career.
