There are four new cases of Covid-19 in managed isolation to report in New Zealand today, including a member of the Pakistan cricket team, according to the Health Ministry.
Today there are no new cases in the community, announced the Ministry of Health in a statement this afternoon.
Two of the new cases reported today arrived on November 23 from the United States, where they tested positive in routine tests on day three. Both cases have been moved to the Auckland quarantine facility.
The third case arrived from the United States on November 26, where they were tested upon arrival for being symptomatic. The person was also transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.
The fourth case is a member of the Pakistani cricket team. It comes after six of the 53-man team Thursday tested positive for Covid-19. All other team members tested negative for Covid-19 on the third day test.
“The exemption to train while in controlled isolation is on hold pending the Canterbury DHB health medical officer deems they are satisfied that the training is unlikely to transmit Covid-19,” the Health Ministry said .
“This ongoing consideration is expected to last until at least early next week.
“Exemptions that allow people to train while in managed isolation are very difficult to obtain and any team that receives such an exemption is in a privileged position.
“The Ministry today thanks the Pakistan cricket team for meeting the expectations around managed isolation and their cooperation with the investigation of the cases. Cooperation and compliance are critical to ensuring New Zealand remains safe from Covid. -19 “.

All 18 close contacts in the Air New Zealand case who tested positive in China before returning home, save one, have all tested negative. The Ministry and the Auckland Regional Public Health Service are now working together to organize tests for final close contact.
There are now 69 active cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
The total number of confirmed cases from New Zealand is now 1,694.
6,888 tests were conducted for the coronavirus yesterday, bringing the total to date to 1,266,944.
