In a statement, the Health Ministry said the Pakistani team will undergo the third-day tests today as scheduled.

New Zealand Cricket confirmed yesterday that six members of the Pakistan cricket team’s roving team in New Zealand had tested positive for Covid-19 in administered isolation in Christchurch.

The Ministry said the exemption for training while in controlled isolation did not go into effect until after test results for day three are available, and only once a medical health official would be satisfied that it is unlikely. that transmit the coronavirus.

“In accordance with customary protocols, all cases have been interviewed and close contacts, including those in flight, have been or are in the process of being contacted.

“All the passengers who arrived on the same flight as the Pakistan cricket team are currently in an MIQ facility for their 14 days in isolation.”

The Ministry said team members who arrived in New Zealand met pre-departure requirements for travel, “including multiple PCR tests and symptom checks.”

He said the exemptions allowing people to train while in managed isolation were “very difficult to obtain and any team that receives such an exemption is in a prime position.”

“Several of the incidents reported yesterday that constituted a violation of the rules of managed isolation, included players leaving rooms without masks, mingling and chatting in the hallways and passing items.

“The tour group is staying in a separate wing of the managed isolation facility at the Chateau on the Park in Christchurch. The reported violations have occurred within the tour group and do not affect other guests in the facility.”

The ministry said that the team’s compliance with the rules within the isolation facility had “improved significantly” since they were issued a warning.

“We thank team members for their cooperation with case investigations following the announcement of positive cases within the team. Cooperation and compliance are critical to ensuring New Zealand remains safe from Covid-19.”

The other new case reported today arrived on November 23 and tested positive on the third day.

There are now 66 active cases of the coronavirus and the total number of confirmed cases is now 1,691.

New Zealand labs processed 7,454 tests yesterday.

The government earlier today announced that it would allow up to 2,000 workers from Registered Seasonal Employers, or CSRs, from selected Pacific Island countries to come to New Zealand to help pick fruits and vegetables this summer, however it has imposed conditions strict.

Yesterday, the ministry reported a new case of Covid-19 in controlled isolation.

The ministry also confirmed yesterday that the Air New Zealand crew member who tested positive for Covid-19 in China is not linked to known cases in New Zealand.
