Three men with gang connections have been arrested after search warrants were carried out at Invercargill.

Invercargill police arrested three men in connection with an aggravated burglary and kidnapping.

Acting Detective Sergeant Major Greg Baird said police carried out multiple search warrants Wednesday.

Three gang-related men, ages 31, 36 and 39, were detained in connection with the incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Nov. 19, he said.

They have been charged with burglary and kidnapping and will appear in Invercargill District Court on Thursday.

The 36-year-old man will reappear in court Friday on several other charges, including aggravated robbery, kidnapping and firearms charges.

Investigations were ongoing and police were not ruling out further arrests or charges, Baird said.

The police thanked those who helped with the investigation.

He encouraged members of the public with information about gang activity to report it to the police.

“We are always closely monitoring gang activity in our area and will take a strong and proactive approach to any crime.”
