MetService has warned Auckland residents to watch out for isolated showers over the next two days.

The forecaster says it is the first time the region has experienced an elevated risk of downpours since 2017.
MetService classifies heavy rainfall as 6mm per hour, whereas rainfall can consist of 25mm per hour.

Vector is also warning Auckland residents to prepare for the possibility of power outages due to the wild weather.
