In a statement, police said they have been working around the clock since the first reports of shooting on Friday.

There were three reports of shooting on Friday and someone was seen with a weapon in Ōtara shortly before 5pm that day.

At the time, police said there were no reports of injuries and that Bairds and Ōtara roads were closed.

Police would not be interviewed by RNZ tonight, but had previously said they believed the incidents were related.

Additional officers have been brought in from across Auckland to help, Manukau County District Commander Superintendent Jill Rogers said in a statement.

“We know that recent firearm incidents … have caused concern and concern in the community. The police do not tolerate the kind of behavior that we have seen in recent days, and we are absolutely committed to identifying the people involved and demanding that they accounts.

“Unfortunately, there are people within the community who know the people who commit these crimes, but they are not willing to provide information to the police.”

He asked that anyone who has seen suspicious behavior or who has information about the incidents contact the police on 105. Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
