Wellingtons are ready to wake up to another day of giant seas and house-sized growths pounding their shoreline.
A strong surf warning has been issued for Wellington’s south coast that will last until 11pm tonight.
MetService says the biggest risk will come at high tide today, which is 11:45 a.m. M. In the capital.
MetService is urging coastal residents to be especially careful as the swell will “rise rapidly” from the start of the day.
Swells, which can be more than 5 meters, could haunt Wellington’s coastline until 8pm tonight.
The mountainous seas of the Cook Strait up to 15 feet high were projected to strike between Baring Head and Sinclair Head overnight.
