The former mayor of New York and now Donald Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, gave a press conference yesterday that was full of conspiracy theories and lies about electoral fraud in the United States.
Despite that, the most controversial and debated thing about the event was probably the strange cosmetic malfunction that Giuliani suffered during his speech, in which a strange black liquid dripped down the side of his face.
While most people assume it was their black hair dye oozing out, others have cast some doubt on the strange liquid.
“It was literally dying in there today,” comedian Jimmy Kimmel said of the Giuliani.
The black liquid made headlines and was the subject of many jokes and memes around the world, but no one knows for sure what caused it.
Several stylists questioned by the New York Times said that while hair dye is the likely culprit, they weren’t completely convinced.
One of them explained that hair dye doesn’t drip like that, unless it’s just applied.
“Hair dye doesn’t drip like this unless it’s been applied,” David Kholdorov of Men’s Lounge Barbershop told the New York Times.
Another expert suspects that the culprit could be mascara, which Giuliani may have used to darken his sideburns.
“The sideburns are grayer than the rest of the head,” explained Mirko Vergani, creative color director at the Drawing Room in Manhattan. “You can apply mascara to touch the gray side up a bit to make it look more natural.”
The Daily Beast also spoke with a cosmetic professional, who pointed out a different possibility: that the tint could come from the fake tan on Giuliani’s face, rather than her hair.
“She seems to be wearing a decent amount of fake bronzer or bronzer or some kind of facial makeup,” said Blackstones colorist and educator Patti O’Gara.
“So if it’s not a shitty hair dye situation, it could be a fake tan drip because it looks like this when you sweat. It’s hard to tell where it comes from – your hair or your skin.”
Another hair colorist told the American site Slate that there is a possibility that it is a hair dye, but very cheap.
“I guess something like this is in the $ 8 to $ 15 range,” said Nicole Wingo of Barber of Hell’s Bottom in Washington.
Whatever the cause, the reality is that a lot of ink has been spilled on Giuliani’s dripping dye.
