When introducing Ennis to the show, Walsh initially called him “the Dublin Dynamo.”
“All the way from the Emerald Isle, it’s Darragh Ennis.
“D Ennis, The Menace,” Walsh concluded.
When Ennis got ready to confront Clint, he felt confident.
“Welcome Clint, I will always remember you as the first contestant I ever faced. And the first contestant I caught too, ”Ennis said.
However, Ennis’s bravado was misplaced, as he failed to catch Clint head-to-head.
Ennis managed to catch two other contestants from the team and beat them in the final Chase with 7 seconds to spare.
Ennis was a former contestant on the show in 2017 when he faced Paul Sinha, but his team lost.
However, he gained popularity among viewers and many felt that Ennis had been difficult thanks to his teammates.
He quickly racked up £ 9,000 (NZ $ 18,800) on his appearance, but his fellow contestants dramatically decreased the amount in the pot by accepting much lower offers, meaning the team took a combined jackpot of just $ 5,600.
Outraged viewers launched a “Justicefordarragh” campaign on social media and even opened a GoFundMe page to help Ennis recoup his losses.
“Well, people at home will be quite familiar with Darragh because he was a former contestant,” said Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan. Radiotimes.com.
“He was one of our most famous and viral ex-contestants that many people will remember. Many people thought that their other contestants had done very badly.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Darragh to the family. We’re more than happy to expand the team because the show, as you know, is incredibly popular and we’re doing more episodes so someone joining the show is very exciting. “
TVNZ has asked when Ennis’s New Zealand debut will air.
