When you lose your wallet on a beach, it is unlikely to be returned, but one lucky Australian is ready to get his money back 26 years after he disappeared.

Paul Davis lost his wallet on New Year’s Eve in 1994, while celebrating with friends in the coastal town of Lennox Head in northern New South Wales.

The wallet had cards and cash in it.

Earlier this week, locals found him stranded on a beach, with bank cards and even an A $ 5 bill still inside.

Davis was notified after photos of the wallet were posted to a local community Facebook group and his cousin’s wife saw it.

The wallet is scheduled to be returned in the next few days, and a meeting is being arranged.
