Auckland locals may well head to a Paradise City next year with legendary rock band Guns N ‘Roses set to play in Wellington and Dunedin.

Guns N ‘Roses would arrive in New Zealand after touring various Australian cities, where they would be quarantined upon arrival, and by then he was convinced of a trans-Tasmanian bubble.

“I am very optimistic that a year from now it will be a completely different picture,” Dainty said.
He said his company, TEG Dainty, were “very conservative” promoters and had been “very cautious” in deciding to go on the tour.

The classic rockers were “all in good shape.”
“We have relied on a lot of advice … and we are very confident that we will put on the show.”
There would be no concert in New Zealand’s largest city because Western Springs Stadium, where GNR played to more than 50,000 people in 2017, was not available.
“Without disrespecting Auckland, but they’ve played there before, so [the band thought] let’s go to Dunedin, where we’ve never played before, ”Dainty said.
He knew classical acts could draw huge crowds in the southern city, after more than 30,000 people – a quarter of Dunedin’s population – flocked to Forsyth Barr to see Queen and Adam Lambert in February.
The concert would be Guns N ‘Roses’ first on the South Island.
Dainty said the shows, led by original front-row lineup Axl Rose, now 58, Slash, 55, and Duff McKagan, 56, would be about 85 percent of matters seated with only a small section of general admission directly in front of the stage.
Gamblers these days generally preferred to buy a reserved seat and “own your real estate” rather than have to show up early to secure a good spot.
Although he anticipated that most people would stand up and dance when the band arrived, the largely seated events created a “more civilized show.”
Fans can look forward to GNR’s typical “marathon” concerts of up to two and three-quarters hours, and they shouldn’t have to worry about the health of the band members after several classic acts canceled for health reasons last year.
“They are fantastic, they are all in good shape,” Dainty said.
I was expecting a “huge” reaction to the news of the tour, not just because of the status of Guns N ‘Roses, but because this was the first new post-Covid tour to be announced.
“This is great news for everyone,” he said, not just for the fans but for everyone who worked in the live events industry. “Stadium rock is back”.
All is well, 2021 will also see a number of performances at New Zealand shows that had to be rescheduled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, including Patti Smith, Backstreet Boys, Bon Iver, and Simple Minds.
November 2021 is shaping up to be a packed month for music fans, with My Chemical Romance performing at The Outer Fields in Western Springs on November 6 and Alanis Morissette at Spark Arena on November 25.
Fans should wait longer for Violent Femmes and Rod Stewart, whose 2020 planned shows have moved to 2022, while Elton John, whose tour has been the subject of numerous dramas and shakes, won’t arrive in New Zealand until 2023.
Dainty said that while the shows would be an entirely new production, fans could expect Guns N ‘Roses to play all the classic hits.
Now Wellingtons just have to pray it doesn’t rain in November.
