The head of the human relations department at Weta Digital retired amid an investigation into workplace culture at the Miramar film empire.
On Wednesday, Weta staff were told in an email that after six years at Weta, Brendan Keys was retiring.
It was unclear from the email if the move was due to the investigation and Weta did not elaborate.
An interim head of human resources was appointed.

Weta Digital announced in September that an attorney for the queen would be hired to conduct an independent review following the sexual harassment allegations there.
A statement issued by the company said the move was commissioned by the owners of Weta Digital.
The majority owners are filmmakers Sir Peter Jackson, Dame Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.
A series of allegations of sexual harassment at the company follow, prompting Labor Relations Minister Andrew Little to request an independent investigation.
An investigation is already underway at Weta Workshop, a separate but related company more closely linked to Sir Richard Taylor.
It follows similar allegations of bullying, sexual harassment and a toxic culture, started by a former Weta Workshop employee, Layna Lazar.
The Weta Workshop investigation was conducted by a human resources company.
In a statement to Things Last week, Weta Workshop said its investigation, conducted by Hive Consulting, was nearing completion.
