Nothing has been heard from Blake Walker, 19, since Friday.
Concerns have been raised for a 19-year-old man who has not been heard from in more than four days after going after a homeless man in Southland.
It is understood that Blake Walker was alone when he was expected to head to the Longwood section of the Te Araroa Trail.
Police confirmed that Blake has been reported missing.
A post shared on the Tramping in New Zealand Facebook page says the last communication with Walker was on the beach section of the trail before Riverton.

His mother had checked with Riverton Campground and also in Colac Bay and he hadn’t introduced himself to either of them, the post says.
“Blake’s family is concerned and would like information if they have seen him,” he says.
Te Araroa Trust CEO Mark Weatherall said he was trying to help by asking the Te Araroa community to take care of Walker.
He was reporting everything he heard to police and Walker’s family, he said.
Walker’s family had not heard from him since Friday, Weatherall said.
“They are quite concerned.”
A police spokesman said police had not yet launched a search and rescue, but were investigating.
Walker has short blonde hair and is approximately 1.82 meters tall.
