Tiger Woods should have worn his bathing suit to the final round of the Masters.

The defending champion threw three balls into the water on the 12th par 3 hole, a surprising turn on the shortest hole on the course.

Tiger Woods hit the ball in the water three times during a nightmare 12 hole.

Last year, on the same hole, Woods had a great opportunity on his way to a fifth green jacket when four of his competitors took shots at Rae’s Creek.

This time, it was Woods who fell apart at Golden Bell.

His tee shot rolled back into the water, then dipped another similarly after taking a drop. Woods threw his next over the green, into a rear bunker, leaving him in an extremely awkward stance for what was officially his sixth shot. He also dipped that one in the water.

Finally, Woods finished with a seven-fold-bogey 10, his worst score at the Masters. Previously, he had done 8 on a much longer pair of holes.

Woods recovered well from the collapse, however. He birdied five of the last six holes to go 4 of 76.

Nineteen months after winning his fifth green jacket, Woods left the field at 1 low for the tournament. At the time, he was 16 strokes behind leader Dustin Johnson.

Woods’ worst score at the Masters was 77 in the third round of his first appearance, in 1995, when he was still an amateur.
