Marcus McKay, 19, went missing for the first time Friday at 9 p.m.
A 19-year-old Temuka boy who disappeared on Friday was found safe.
A police spokeswoman said they were alerted at 9 p.m. Saturday that a hunter was delayed on a day trip with a friend.
Marcus McKay was last seen at 9 p.m. Friday, when he left his partner and brother at home after a day trip to Christchurch and headed out hunting with a friend for a few hours again.
“Unfortunately, the informant did not know where the person planned to go hunting or who the friend was,” he said.
Police said that at 6.30 p.m. Sunday, the man returned to the cell phone reception and was fine.
Marcus’s mother, Jocelyn McKay, said Things Sunday morning his phone went straight to the answering machine.
“I can’t help but think the worst because it’s so out of place. He is the type of person who is in contact with the family all the time, he is very family oriented. He’s one of those guys who’s always on his phone.
Marcus McKay had only been hunting a handful of times and didn’t have a gun, his mother said.
“I think he was just dating people who had done it before. His partner thought he was leaving his vehicle at a Geraldine address, but he is not there, ”he said.
