Frightening footage has emerged of the moment a white utility vehicle allegedly struck a pedestrian and rammed multiple cars during a rampage incident in central Newcastle, Australia.
The video, shared on Facebook by a salesperson who works nearby, initially shows the ute driving toward a pedestrian and colliding with the side of a yellow hatchback.
An approaching ambulance sounded its siren, but that failed to stop the driver of the Ute speeding down Hunter St in the New South Wales town.
About a dozen tradies chased the one-cab ute, which had stopped at a red light at the intersection of Hunter St and Stewart Ave.
The workers hit the windows of the ute and demanded that the driver get out in order to make a citizen arrest, but the driver did not do so and collided with the car stopped in front.
The tradies backed up when the ute spun their tires, causing smoke to come out of the wheels. The driver eventually broke between the cars in front, through a red light and into the intersection.
It was there that he collided with another car before the driver sped down Stewart Ave.
New South Wales police said they were called to Hunter St after reports that a pedestrian had been hit and several vehicles damaged by a white van around 6:20 a.m. Friday.
Police said the pedestrian, a 55-year-old man, sustained minor arm injuries during the alleged road rage incident and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
They said no one else was injured.
Officers found the Ute abandoned on King St shortly thereafter, and it was seized for forensic examination.
Later, police visited an address on King St and arrested a 29-year-old woman around 9.15am.
They have taken her to the Newcastle Police Station for questioning.
