Many Auckland travelers could be seen without masks on Thursday afternoon after a new community case of Covid-19 was announced.
Health authorities have advised Auckland residents to cover their faces on public transport.
Anyone traveling on flights to and from the region was also asked to cover their mask.
Workers in central Auckland were also advised on Thursday night to work from home whenever possible.

If they can’t, they should wear a mask while in the city center, said the health ministry’s director of public health, Dr. Caroline McElnay.
The new community case is a woman who lives and works in the CBD. It has not been immediately linked to the border or an isolation facility.
The woman, in her 20s, presented symptoms on Monday, November 9.
She’s going to be transferred to the quarantine facility at the Jet Park Hotel.
The woman lives alone, but visited several places in the city center, including several restaurants.
