One person is offered support after a home invasion in Southland on Tuesday.

Southland Police are seeking information in connection with a home invasion near Clifden.

Detective Sergeant David Kennelly said police were appealing over sightings of a vehicle similar to an older model, a blue Ford Courier or Mazda Bounty, seen in the East Bush area around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

It possibly had a raised suspension, mud tires, roof racks and a breathing tube, he said.

No one was injured in the invasion and support was offered to the victim.

Police were also interested in speaking with people from two vans that were in the Clifden Caves about the time of the incident.

A police spokeswoman said the property was on Clifden Gorge Rd and the adult victim called 111 as soon as possible.

There were no mentions of theft or weapons in the police file, the spokeswoman said.

Hamish Gill, who lives on the same road, did not learn of the incident until Wednesday night.

The home invasion in the quiet rural area was “a bit random,” Gill said.

Anyone with information or who saw the vehicle in the area at the time should contact the police or call CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
