Michael Desrallei Shane Hutchinson was caught driving 171 kilometers per hour earlier this month.
A man with a “horrendous” driving history was recorded traveling more than 70 kilometers per hour over the speed limit in a car with no rear window, worn tires and without a warrant for three years.
Michael Desrallei Shane Hutchinson, 47, was caught driving at 171 km / h on Mountain Rd, Taranaki, around 10 a.m. on November 1.
Police had registered him on a speed detection device as he was traveling to Waitara from Inglewood, police prosecutor Graham Hosking told New Plymouth District Court.
Before the review, Hutchinson, of Waitara, had passed through several private entrances while exceeding the 100 km / h speed limit, Hosking said.

When he was pulled over by police, the vehicle was found to have worn tires, a rear window was missing, and there was no guarantee of fitness.
The car’s last fitness warranty expired in December 2017, Hosking said.
Hutchinson was not aware of his speed, he told police at the time.
On Wednesday, duty attorney Shayne Malone pleaded guilty on behalf of Hutchinson to a charge of driving at dangerous speed.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of three months in prison, a mandatory six-month disqualification, and a fine of up to $ 4,500.
Malone had not seen his client’s criminal record, but claimed that based on information provided by Hutchinson, a fine was an appropriate outcome.
Community Magistrate Lesley Jensen disagreed.
“I don’t think so, based on his story … it’s a horrible story,” he said.
Hutchinson had prior convictions for reckless driving, dangerous driving, failure to stop and careless driving causing injury, Jensen said.
She ordered a pre-sentencing report due to Hutchinson’s driving offense history and ordered that he return to court on Dec. 9 for sentencing.
