Incredible drone images taken this morning over Napier show an entire neighborhood flooded by floodwaters from yesterday’s storm.

The footage was shot this morning in the Nuffield Avenue area in Marewa.
Marewa has been among the suburbs hardest hit by the floods, and Nuffield Avenue remained flooded for most of the day.

You can see Whitmore Park covered in water, as well as the Marewa Croquet Club and the Napier Bridge Club.
Locals can be seen wading through the water, some pulling out boats or kayaks, and several cars appeared to have stopped in the water.

In a statement released this afternoon, New Zealand Fire and Emergency Area Manager Ken Cooper said 106 Napier properties had been assessed by 5 p.m.
“From those assessments, 16 were determined to be uninhabitable and the occupants were evacuated,” he said.
