Reanna Williams, 14, was injured after being assaulted by two teenagers in Linwood.
Keith Williams says his daughter is “convinced” she wants to take self-defense classes after being punched and kicked in the head in an attack by two teenagers in Christchurch.
Reanna Williams, 14, and a friend were driving down Linwood Ave right across from the Z Linwood garage when they were assaulted Saturday afternoon.
Williams said two teens, believed to be between 15 and 16, were also riding scooters in the opposite direction when they passed Reanna and her friend before turning to harass them.
“They punched (her) friend once and then they lay on my daughter, hit her on the ground and then kicked her in the face. At some point they strangled her with her own sweatshirt. ”

Williams said her daughter was shaken, bruised, swollen, a strangulation mark on her neck and a cut to her face and mouth.
After being taken to the hospital, X-rays found that nothing was broken and she was released later that night.
“Mentally she’s fine, and she’s back in school today (Monday), but now she’s determined to take self-defense classes,” her father said.
But he was “furious” about what had happened and hoped the police would catch the girls soon so they wouldn’t attack anyone else.
“Obviously there’s not much I can do … but given the description of the girls’ ages, I don’t think they will be severely punished.”
Williams said the two girls were believed to be 15 or 16 years old and both were wearing black sweatshirts. The shortest of the pair had her hair tied up in a bun.
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to Linwood Ave just before 4 p.m. Saturday, took statements from the victim and that efforts are continuing to identify and find the culprits.
Anyone with information should call the police at 105 quoting the file number 201108/1357.
