A spokesperson for the Christchurch Transportation Operations Center said Hei Hei Rd had been closed to traffic between Wycola Ave and Tirangi St due to a police incident.
One person is seriously injured and a Christchurch school is closed after an assault.
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to an address on Hei Hei Rd around 12:25 p.m. following a report of an assault.
A spokesperson for St John said the person was seriously injured.
The police spokeswoman said “several people” were assisting the police with their investigations.
“There are currently cordons on Hei Hei Rd as police work to establish the circumstances of the incident.”
A staff member at St Bernadette’s School on Hei Hei Rd confirmed that the school was closed, but declined to comment further.
There are at least five police cars at the scene and Hei Hei Street is blocked between Tirangi St and just past Stoneycroft Ln. There are more than a dozen little orange markers on the road outside Stoneycroft Lane, near St Bernadettes Catholic Church.

Road users can detour northeast using Wycola Ave to Manurere St to Aurora St and vice versa to travel southwest.
