‘That’s horrible’: Duncan Garner tries a gigantic effort to eat cakes for vegan awards

Ever since Garner “lost a bet on myself,” the New Zealand vegan community has been supporting him, offering tips, suggestions and treats.

“It’s actually a huge responsibility,” Garner observed. “I need to learn more, I don’t know enough.”

Well, in a clear example of being thrown into the background, Garner was chosen to be one of a team of judges for the New Zealand Vegan Pie Awards at a tasting earlier this week at The Butcher’s Son vegan restaurant.

“I’m taking a crash course,” Garner joked, before the trial, who had more than 70 cakes on offer.

Garner’s evaluation comments ranged from “that’s awful” to “great,” with points spread for looks and taste.

But the sheer number of cakes quickly began to take its toll, with the video showing Garner starting to tire midway.

“I have never eaten so many cakes in my life, you will be surprised to know,” he said.
