The 35-year-old, who confessed to leaking details of a Covid-19 patient to defend allegations that he was a racist, this week joins Harcourts Queenstown real estate agency as a sales consultant.
He says it is about “going back to my roots” after having completed his work a few years ago.
He also founded a property management company in Auckland, which he successfully franchised and sold.
“I feel absolutely blessed, I believe that real estate is the best thing in the world,” he says.
” You help people find new homes, and I live and work in an area that I love, and I see interesting people and beautiful houses every day, what could be better?
“For me, it’s really continuing with what I’ve been doing for the last three years, which is working hard for the community.”
When asked how locals responded to the leak scandal, which he recognized as a mistake stemming from “wrong advice,” he said: “I’ve had a lot of support from the community; people see what it is.” It’s politics, but now I’m completely focused on real estate. ”
She admits that high housing costs in Queenstown make things difficult for first-time home buyers.
” It is incredibly difficult, and one of the things that I am proud of in parliament is successfully lobbying the Minister to raise $ 100,000 for the [first-home] housing limit for Queenstown, which makes a big difference. ”
He says he has been associated with Harcourts for several years and notes, as a rugby referee, that he sponsors the Otago Rugby Referees Association.
Harcourts Queenstown CEO Warwick Osborne says Walker is “all about relationships and community” which he sees as a perfect match for the company.
Meanwhile, Walker also jumped into the ring for a seat on the board of the Queenstown Chamber of Commerce.
