President Trump’s former communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, says the battle for the next presidency between Trump and Joe Biden shouldn’t be so close.
The now Biden supporter told Newstalk ZB that he is surprised by Trump’s momentum in the polls, but still believes Biden would win.
“I had to tell you that it speaks to the systemic problems in our country that we are going to have to address,” he added.
“We have a lot of people who feel left out of the system,” Scaramucci said.
“We have a lot of workers, predominantly white Americans [and] There was once a working class with aspirations in our society, that I grew up with my father as a crane operator, but now we have passed into the despair of the working class, “he says.
He said that President Trump was an “avatar” of those people’s anger.
“Now they are coming out to vote for him. They did not accept the charges, nor the economic history that he [former] Vice President was articulating. I think that will cause a reckoning of the Democratic Party, “he says.
“If you look at the nine or ten candidates, Joe Biden is the one with the best chance against Trump. The radical left-wing candidates would have been wiped out.”
He said that despite Trump’s reaction to the murder of George Floyd and his handling of Covid-19, he was in a close election.
“I predict he will lose this election, but it shouldn’t be that close. That tells you there is something systemically wrong in this country and we have to fix it.”
The former White House official was fired by Trump after just 10 days in office.
He said that “speaking out” against Trump was a “patriotic cause.”
“We will have to see how far it goes in terms of ruining the country.”
