Two Wellington brothers have died in Sydney after an accident during a car chase that paramedics have called “the worst they have ever seen”.

Tthe Sydney Morning Herald reported that the teens, ages 15 and 17, died at the scene in the western Sydney suburb of Abbotsbury, around 4:20 a.m. Sunday.

A Givealitte page shared on a Wellington social media page identified the brothers as Tiari and Cirus Whakaneke, who lived in Sydney.

A third teenager, aged 17, was taken to the hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries to his arms and legs.

NSW police allege that the Holden Commodore the teens were riding in, which struck a pole, had previously been stolen from a home in Edmondson Park, about 15 miles away. The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The car’s owner, Mazen Kabbara, 37, was reportedly awakened at 4 a.m. by the sound of a Holden Commodore speeding up and chased after him in another vehicle.

Since then, Kabbara has been charged with five crimes, including two counts of dangerous driving that resulted in death, dangerous driving that resulted in serious bodily injury and two counts of negligent driving that resulted in death.

The Givealitte page created by a member of the brothers’ family claims that their father and another brother reside in Wellington and the donations would help them reach Sydney.

Kabbara was granted bail and is expected to appear in Liverpool Local Court in Sydney on 25 November.

A nearby resident, Christine Willcocks, said the crash sounded like “lightning.”
