Members of the Tribesmen band arrived in Christchurch over the weekend.
A member of the Tribesmen gang died after a motorcycle accident in North Canterbury.
The man was traveling in a convoy with 70 other gang members when his Harley-Davidson collided with an oncoming car on Omihi Rd (SH1), Hurunui, approximately 1.5 kilometers south of Greta Valley, around 7:50. A.M
He died at the scene.
Things he understands the man was heading to Picton to catch a ferry back to the North Island.
About 80 tribal gang members from across the country entered Christchurch on Friday as part of a national gathering.

They stayed at the Heartland Hotel Cotswold on Papanui Rd, Merivale, after being turned away by at least two other accommodation providers.
On Saturday, gang members were seen riding en masse in Christchurch and surrounding areas, such as Lyttelton.
They passed through the Christchurch Men’s Prison, where many of the local chapters, including President Elder Browne, are in custody.
It is believed that there was also a patching ceremony for the new members over the weekend.

Detective Inspector Michael Ford said police learned a fortnight ago that members of the Tribesmen gang were coming to Christchurch in droves.
Additional personnel, including some from other police districts, were brought in to keep a close eye on them.
Ford said there were no major issues that could be related to the gang over the weekend.
He declined to comment on the accident.
The Cotswold Hotel declined to comment on the gang, but said they “behaved well.”
In recent years, the Tribesmen band has been considered a dominant player in the Christchurch underworld.
