The Health Ministry says that seven new cases of COVID-19 have been found in controlled isolation.

There were no new cases in the community to report on Saturday.

Of the new cases, one is from the United States, one from Ukraine, four from Qatar and one from Dubai. They all arrived between October 26 and 29.

“All cases were detected during routine testing and isolation processes and are now in the Auckland quarantine facility,” the ministry said.

The total number of active cases in New Zealand is now 75, with the total confirmed to date 1601. Just under 6,000 tests were performed on Friday.

The ministry said the family and household contacts of a boy who traveled from New Zealand to Japan before testing positive have tested negative.

“This public health investigation has also investigated the evidence and possible historical exposures.

“It has been determined that it was not the result of a recent COVID-19 infection. There is no ongoing risk to New Zealand and the case is now closed.”
