A woman was found dead at the property on Grace St Thursday, and police were conducting examinations of the scene there and at another property on Tay St.

The Grace St property was bought a year ago by a Russian woman, who has been described as a “very nice” person.

A neighbor said it was “obvious” that the police believed the death was not due to natural causes.

Meanwhile, a neighbor at the cordoned off property on Tay St said he knew the man who lived there and that his then-wife left the property about a year ago.

Police had yet to confirm whether they were conducting a homicide investigation.

Acting Detective Sergeant Major Greg Baird confirmed that police were called to a Grace St address around 4.15 p.m. Thursday after a woman was found dead on the property.

“We are currently treating his death as inexplicable as we work to understand the circumstances.”

Police emergency tape was seen wrapped around the Tay St property yesterday morning and an Armourguard security vehicle was parked outside.

Sergeant Major Baird said more information will be released when it becomes available.

A neighbor of the Tay St property said the man who lived at the address was in his 65s.

The then-wife of the man moved to South City about a year ago. She said the man told her she wanted to climb the property ladder.

A real estate listing showed that the Grace St property where the woman was found dead was sold on October 19 of last year.

The neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was in his garage working with machinery Thursday afternoon, so he had not seen or heard anything and was surprised to find that the police were investigating right next to his house. on Tay St.

“It’s a little revealing. It’s a really quiet neighborhood. You hear about these things that happen, but I never thought they would happen near me.”

A neighbor of the Grace St property, who also wished to remain anonymous, said police had visited yesterday afternoon to say there would be an investigation at the property next door.

“They just asked us to be vigilant about anything.

“It’s pretty scary though. Obviously they don’t think death was [of] natural [causes]. “

The woman said that the area was generally very quiet and that she had never heard of any problems.

“I’m pretty sure they are all older people who live there and keep to themselves.”
